Our research at the Department of Sociology of Technical University of Berlin refers to a broad spectrum of urban developments within the context of a social-theoretical perspective.We work on sociological theory building in terms of spatial theory, postcolonial theory, sociology of knowledge, and comparative urban research. Empirical areas of research we cover include: Social and spatial inequalities, social movements and participatory processes, urban heritage, (im)mobilities of dwelling, migration and spatial mobility, temporary use and spatial pioneers, urban habitat, city and football, city and tourism, the intrinsic logic of cities, megacity research.
